Increase in the rates of statutory sick, maternity, paternity, shared parental and adoption pay

Following the Taylor review of modern working practices, there will be an increase in the rates of statutory sick, maternity, paternity, shared parental and adoption pay.

The increases are due to roll in from April 2018 and include various payments in the 2018-2019 tax year.

Statutory maternity, paternity, adoption and shared parental pay will be £145.18 a week from 1 April 2018, which is an increase from £140.98. Maternity allowance will increase to the same rate on 9 April 2018.

Statutory sick pay will also increase from £89.35 a week to £92.05.

These increases have been made in line with consumer price index. This is the first time since 2013 the 1% cap to the increase has not been applied.
